Svitlana Romanko, Founder and Director at Razom We Stand: Svitlana Romanko is the Founder and Director of the Ukrainian organisation Razom We Stand, which grew out of the successful #StandWithUkraine campaign to end the global fossil fuel addiction that feeds Putin’s war machine. Ms Romanko launched and coordinated both groups once the Russian war against Ukraine began. She has been an environmental lawyer for over twenty years and a high-impact climate justice campaigner for a decade. Svitlana holds a PhD in Environmental, Natural Resources, Land and Agrarian Law and a doctorate in Climate Change Law, Climate Governance and Climate Policy. She worked for 350.org and the Laudato Si Movement and has been a senior consultant for a Just Green Recovery and Green Deal in Eastern Europe. She regularly writes for and interviews with international top-tier press as a featured expert ansd was awarded with Rose Braz Award for bold activism in 2022.
Isaac Levi, Europe-Russia Policy & Energy Analysis Team Lead at Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA): Isaac coordinates and contributes to CREA's work responding to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, such as tracking Russia's fossil fuel exports, sanctions, and the war’s implications for the energy transition. Isaac also undertakes data analysis on Russian fossil fuel flows and the impact of the sanctions and presents analyses and policy recommendations to policymakers. Previously, Isaac worked for several years as an economist in the UK Civil Service and undertook a role coordinating and analysing the oil sanctions on Russia.
Lauri Myllyvirta, Lead Analyst at Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA): Lauri has over ten years of experience as an air pollution and climate expert. He has led numerous research projects on air pollution, assessing air quality and health impacts of energy policies, including modelling studies of the air quality and health impacts of coal-fired power plants. This research has been published and utilised in numerous countries in East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Europe, Turkey, South Africa, and elsewhere. Lauri has also contributed to numerous publications about energy solutions and air pollution and regularly attends seminars and conferences as an expert speaker. He served as a member of the Technical Working Group on regulating emissions from large combustion plants in the EU and currently serves as a member of the expert panel on regulating SO2 emissions in South Africa.
Mai Rosner, (Global Witness): Mai Rosner is a team lead at climate advocacy group Global Witness, where she investigates and campaigns against conflict fossil fuels. Since the invasion of Ukraine, Mai has been researching links between the fossil fuel industry and the war. These investigations into the oil majors funding and fuelling the war in Ukraine have forced major companies to divest from Russian joint ventures, unearthed sanctions violations, and generated a ground-breaking criminal complaint for complicity in war crimes. Her research and commentary has been featured by the BBC, Financial Times, CNN, and Politico amongst others. Previously, she was Research Assistant to the President and Director Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. She holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University.
