About the job
As the Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for increasing campaign reach and exposure both among media, decision-makers and campaign supporters and also to advance the campaign's goals regarding ending fossil fuels addiction and driving the renewable energy transition.
You will work closely with the Senior Communications Manager. You will contribute to the development of media and communications strategies and implement clear distribution plans for outputs, which target key groups and audiences. This is a fast-paced job which often requires juggling multiple tasks simultaneously, often tackling several issues in parallel.
About the role
Draft communication plans and contribute to project, national and global communication strategies.
Draft media materials (press releases, analytical articles, blogs, news, press releases, briefings).
Engage with, pitch/reach out to journalists, responding to their requests for information in a timely and accurate manner.
Prepare and maintain project, national and international journalist contact lists.
Systematically track traditional media coverage and digital media impact, and produce reports assessing the reach of the work of the organization.
Respond to occasional questions from supporters.
Monitor communications campaign updates, draft and send updates to partners.
Monitor inbox and communicate to our signatories/supporters with updates and invitations (draft and send letters, work to reply to their requests etc.).
Maintain a communications calendar, participate in relevant conferences or events. (Limited travel may be required).
Contribute to a high-performing, collaborative, and flexible startup team environment, co-creating and fostering organizational culture and values.
Contribute to relationships building with broader partners and movements.
Contribute to the broader development and execution of organizational strategy.

Requirements:
At least 2-3 years of experience in a similar or related role, or have training, experience in journalism, marketing, media relations, communications or public relations.
Demonstrated experience and/or interest in taking a creative approach to media and communications and have a successful track record in producing communications content.
Experience in writing and editing texts for multiple audiences, and knowledge of European media networks.
Strong project management, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to enhance a culture of collaboration, openness, trust, equity, and inclusion.
Resilience and ability to meet deadlines under sometimes quickly evolving situations;
Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Knowledge, experience and a passion for action on climate change, eliminating fossil fuels and a commitment to social justice and peace
Proven ability to work independently, as well as in close coordination with a remote team.
Willingness to contribute to the development of the new organisation.

Have an excellent command of English (to native English speaker level).
Degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science or area related to the position
Advantageous
- Knowledge of USA, global or Ukrainian media networks
- Have a solid understanding of European political and social realities.
- Have an understanding of Central or Eastern European political and social realities.
- Media monitoring experience, with analytical skills to learn and adapt for effective messaging
- Experience with digital communications, creating compelling mails and social media content especially for Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
- Contribute to the creation of digital communication on social media, websites, and mass email communication.
- Experience in using classic marketing (media, PR, events, outdoor advertising) and web marketing (such as Google Adwords, social media ads, Youtube, e-mail or others)
- Assist/support with website analysis and SEO
- Create appealing design materials such as flyers, banners, posters, etc.
- Support organizations' website by publishing content, collaborating with PR agencies or web-masters on changes and improvements.
- Contribute to production of compelling short videos for social media
Software requirements or advantageous to know:
- Required for regular use by team, training available:
- Meltwater (or Cision or other media monitoring software including RSS feeds)
- Asana task manager software
- Slack, Zoom
- Google Suite; G-mail, Calendar, Drive, Slides
- Microsoft Office and Excel
Advantageous:
- CRMs like Action Network
- Social media scheduling software, ie., Hootsuite
- Knowledge of social media platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook
- Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
